After the downfall of Teemo the Hutt, the team laid low to ensure they were off the grid during any Hutt investigations. Sasha left with a party to explore an ice world past the outer rim. Lowhhrick has refocused his efforts on finding the trandoshans that killed his family, and Mathus stayed with Lowhhrick, assuming it would offer opportunities to charge up his shock gloves.
Shock gloves and a vibro-ax are good in combat, but they have been seeking someone to help with negotiations (and an additional hand or two for skirmishes in the Krayt Fang). Lowhhrick and Mathus have been sought out by a Sullustan named Imik Suum. Imik told them about his friend Seng Windrunner, a swoop jockey with no particular love for the Empire who has recently gone missing.
Imik had already employed a Bothan named Avy to help find his friend. Avy uncovered some information that led to Seng being transported on an Imperial shuttle that often lands in Mos Shuuta. Apparently, the shuttle has been known to bring Lieutenant Herkin of the Star Destroyer Devastator to the spaceport regularly for Herkin to do business with some less than reputable individuals (including the late Teemo). Avy developed a plan to plant a tracking beacon on Herkin’s shuttle, which could be used to track the Devastator’s movement and hopefully find Seng.
Though Imik has little to offer, he hinted to some information regarding the whereabouts of a Trandoshan who has ties to a clan responsible for many Wookiee deaths going back hundreds of years. This information was incentive enough for Lowhhrick, but Mathus pressed for some credits as well.
Mathus and Lowhhrick met Avy later that day in the now-familiar Mos Shuuta Cantina. After some discussion everyone seemed to think that there’d be an advantage to aligning their resources. To put Avy’s plan into motion, they needed to secure a tracking device. Avy volunteered to try his luck with Vorn, the local junk shop owner. Hopefully the shabby-looking tracker that Vorn sold him will work as advertised.
The crew made their way into Spaceport Control to see how they could get access to the shuttle. After Avy talked his way past the security droids, Mathus grabbed a computer terminal and looked for some information that might be able to help. He couldn’t find anyone scheduled for landing bay Besh, but he was able to find someone scheduled to work whose location was redacted. If nothing else: it was a lead.
Avy asked around his network, learning the name of the scheduled worker, Mike, and also learning that Mike has a gambling problem. A number of gamblers were known to get together in a special room of the Slagworks in Mos Shuuta. In the crowd, they found Mike with almost no credits in front of him sitting across from the opponent he apparently lost them to.
They sat with Mike, extending him some credit, gambling with him in an effort to get him talking. They ultimately struck a deal to get him away from Mos Shuuta (and his debts) in exchange for helping plant the tracking device on Herkin’s Lambda shuttle. After striking the deal, they tailed Mike back to his home and stepped in to save him from some thugs looking to teach him a lesson for owing so many credits to their boss.
The next morning, Mathus met up with Mike at the rendezvous point and headed toward the main entrance to landing bay Besh. With the tracking device hidden in a tool cart, Mike pushed it toward the doorway and flashed his credentials but Mathus was stopped before he could slip through. He gave a quick story about hAvyng to go get his credentials and that he’d be back. He returned to a confused Lowhhrick and Avy and said that it was on Mike’s shoulders, but nobody is really satisfied with that option. They thought back on the Landing bay Aurek layout and remembered that there was a tunnel from the attached warehouse. The force was with them as warehouse Besh had a similar setup and no apparent security.
Mathus stepped out into the landing bay from the warehouse tunnel. After a look around he didn’t see any guards around so he wandered toward the Lambda class shuttle, meeting up with Mike and installing the tracking device. On the way out there was some stormtrooper activity headed through the main doors toward the shuttle. Mike made his way through the service exit while Mathus beelined toward the maintenance door without issue.
Rejoining Avy and Lowhhrick, the crew retraced their steps through the connecting tunnel to the warehouse. Upon entering the warehouse, they bumped into some security droids. Avy tried to talk his way through but blaster bolts flew. After Lowhhrick and Mathus made quick work of them they headed outside just in time to see the shuttle taking off and leaving Mos Shuuta spaceport toward the sky.
